What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that "life force energy" flows through all things. If one's "life force energy" is low or blocked, then we are more susceptible to illness and stress. When the “life force energy” is high and flowing properly, we are able to enjoy health and general well being.
What Does That Mean?
It means that the Reiki Practicioner has been trained and has been certified in the use of certain hand positions and sacred ancient symbols, that are meant to promote relaxation and a state of wellbeing for the person recieving.
The practitioner is a conduit, which means they transmit energy from a universal source to where it is needed by the recipient. They do not create the energy or direct it. It is believed that Reiki promotes the body's ability to heal itself and it supports other treatment programs.
Reiki results in an overall relaxation response. That causes a deeper healing on an emotional and spiritual level.
